Introduction
The Sir Bobby Robson School in Ipswich is a state-of-the-art facility for youngsters with social, emotional and mental health needs. The school, which is run by the Unity Schools Partnership, will offer 60 places for students, aged eight and 16 years old. The vision for the school is to provide individualised support for all students and prepare them to become successful independent adults. As well as 15 classrooms, the site includes soft play and sensory areas along with a multi-purpose hall, as well as a kitchen and dining space.
Project
A new specialist school was needed to provide further and enhanced SEND provisions in the Ipswich area. The school was named after the legendary Ipswich Town and England manager, who steered the Blues to FA Cup and UEFA Cup wins, following a public consultation.
BetweenGlassBlinds
BetweenGlassBlinds provided 64 integral blind sets for the Sir Bobby Robson School project. The doorsets were supplied and fitted by Dorplan. BGB was able to help Dorplan meet specialist requirements for the project, including fully encapsulated integral blinds that can be adjusted to provide greater visibility or privacy at a touch, in both vision panels and side screens. The units contain a unique tracking system for the magnet meaning that the magnet cannot get lost or be removed from the rails.
The integral blinds were needed throughout the school. Iron Grey venetian blinds were used, which complimented the doors supplied in a durable dark laminate with contrasting wooden beading and frame colour, giving a pleasing finish. Using BetweenGlassBlinds’ dedicated fire test evidence for integral blinds in timber doors, FD30 requirements were met; non-fire and 35Db acoustic rated units were also supplied. The blinds were required to be Tilt Only and operated from one side.
